Hello everyone =)
Just bored here while EQ is being patched =\
Anyways, I was wondering...
I'm sure EQ will have another expansion and kinda wanted to guess what it is going to be or kinda suggest a cool idea.
If I had to guess on what the next expansion would be... I might base it on the last few expansions... but DoDH was a twist from that discord stuff so I'm thinking it'll be another LDoN type expansion that reuses old zones and adds new instances.
However, if I had my way I think it'd be cool to have a cosmic expansion. Sorta like Luclin.. but more outer spacey. Not sure exactly how to describe it, but it would have weird alien mobs like luclin I guess and of course they'd be stronger... I'd add new mounts... about 500 more aas ... kinda where all classes could track and forage.. and maybe some other stuff like that. Oh yeah.. I'd add innate swimming speed too.. or whatever so we could swim faster. Also some of the space zones could be low-G environments where you could float or bounce on the surface, and enduring breath would be a must in them. I'd add new spells of course and more endurance regens =) Since it's in space the main boss could be Veeshan finally or if not Veeshan something cool. I'd add some more planes/demi-planes too.
Well I could go on, but don't wanna go too far from the main idea.. so anyway.. post a reply with what you think the next expansion will be and what kind of expansion you would like to see. :)
I started EQ as I was bored and a friend suggested it. He hooked me with the idea of killing dragons and a medievel world. Not a space age one.
When I was little, all the medievel legends seemed mythical and magical to me and set my imagination alight. To move and act in such a world was a boon!
I would love to see a return to that world of myth and magic.
More dragons, more myths, more legend, less space aliens and silly ikaavs and aliens please!
And omg, I swear SoE had a former nintendo programmer design coruthus.

Well I can see your point, but I guess I'm just a Star Trek fan. I mean I love medievil times and fantasy too, but you can grow to like they space stuff Esme =) Personally I think the best expansion was the Planes of Power, but I liked the uniqueness of Shadows of Luclin... the whole lunar idea... I just wanna see more of it. I'm probably just not describing it right... I'm sure everyone would like it =) Anyways, thanks for the feedback :)

Actually I recall Sony doing a poll of some sort around the time that GoD came out, and they learned how much we freaking hated that expansion. Lo and behold, people hated the strange alien mobs and wanted a return to the more fantasy like creatures, such as dragons and what have you.

Sony does whatever can make them a buck, like most corporations. Plus it's not like EQ is their brainchild, it's just something they bought after another company created it.
Frankly I'd like to see the next expansion do the following
1)stack combines for simple recepies
2)tradeskill instances! complete with apprentices you train to perhaps do things such as the above or speed up your work. Sink X plat +Y time=Billybob the bakerbot
3)creative zones, not shit that looks like was cut and paste. How about a zone that changes paths randomly, or that you're walking on the ceiling, or jump in zero-G to switch from walking on cieling to floor.
4) expanded casino. The SH one was a nice idea, but a pain in the ass goin back and forth and only one game option.
5) NEW FUCKING MINI-GAME! omg i want to kill the bitch that thought up gems.
6) no new classes, they think that's always a winner. blah.
7) EQ webbrowser! so sick of toggling in and out to look up info or check e-mail
8) Make PoM worth a damn again, make that door in the hole worth a damn.

I think Sony learned their lession on the whole sci-fi idea. Players already burned them pretty hardcore about the weird names from Luclin (VT named), GoD (RK could get a job coming up with those names!), and the ones up to OOW. The reason we have chimera, demons, and other "normal" fantasy models in OOW and onward is due to player demand for that kind of content.
My idea of an expansion is more single, group, and raid instanced content. LDoN could own so much if they would allow for solo instances that were tailored to be soloable by all classes (I know how rough of an undertaking that would be). The lower to mid level content is sorely underused at this point, so it would be nice to see those areas revamped and given a breath of fresh air to be useable by all levels of players. The idea of easy zones with an awesome experience modifier in the newer zones was simply a dumb idea. New content shouldn't make experience faster (except by virtue of having access to upgraded gear, which in turn makes stuff easier), but rather provide alternate areas to venture into.

hmmm i like that idea frankly. But might not be as bad an undertanking as one might think of it if gave it a twist. Class TYPE specific instances. follow me a moment here...Think of it this way a tank (war/pal/SK) zone into a given instance. at the start there's several "pets" in the LDoN style. You say text and one can follow you as say a shaman or cleric or whatever. It's whole job is to heal you, your job is to keep it alive. It could even show as a group member and give mana reports if it needs to regen mana. Could adapt for casters by having a "tank" with good regen. Could adapt for healers simalar. The key would having different missions for different castes.
Or hell, could just have a NPC mission where you use your specific abilities to help a "group" of NPC's attack a enemy stronghold, take out a specific target, save someone or something. each mission needing the certain skills of a class and having a timer of how long you can take. get exp after the fact. *shrug*
I dunno, I wouldn't want to code it but it'd be just a matter of zones.but definitly agree some solo exp content other than regular grinding would be nice. oh well can dream...

i agree with what kel said above another Mini game would rock imho :)
They have consistantly told us it s a group game, a social game, but I know many that mostly solo only, as their time is generally contrained. Solo instances would really be cool, and would help keep EQ1 alive. It really is time to throw soloers a bone!

yeah, I like to group myself but there ARE times you just can't find a freakin group or one certain class to make a group work usually a healer is my prob =/ So having an option to exp, maybe not as good as group exp, would be nice

I would love to see more solo tasks, kinda like the ones you get at the wagons in Lavastorm or the first tier DoN ones I guess. I mean, the tasks from the taskmasters, the one time I tried them, seemed fucking HARD... to the point where after running through about four zones just to hail people, I said, "this is retarded, fuck it." That way when you can't find a group or two people and not enough to start a task or mission, you can still play without having to go somewhere about 15 levels below you in an attempt to solo and die. What? I suck at soloing!
I would love to see the zones re-done, but also with that... player housing! That's pretty much one of the only reasons I wanted to play EQ2... to have my own house and be able to decorate it. It kind of sucks that we got a guild hall and we can't decorate it. Yeahyeah I know, I should just go play the Sims. But damnit, we don't get mules for extra space, so at least we could get a house with a big ol' trunk or something.
They seem to have been doing a great job making new weapon graphics... therefore, I'm gonna take a mile and say I want new armor! And hairdos and faces and all that stuff! Okay, at least armor... I want to be able to wear a robe! Or at least dye my kilt white for cryin' out loud! I have three choices: leather, chain, or plate; and only one feasable choice for all the time: leather. So freaking sick of my shirt looking like it's going to pop off at any moment, Woe! At least tweak the existing armor to make different graphics for stuff.
